LG Electronics’ electric vehicle charger has received safety certification from UL, a leading safety certification organization in the United States.
The certified product is a 11kW AC EV Charger that will be released in the US market in the first half of 2024. LG Electronics has been certified for several standards related to EV charging and safety, including the ‘UL Standard for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (UL 2594).
UL certification is known for its stringent requirements and rigorous certification process. It is highly trusted by consumers in the United States.
LG Electronics expects that this certification will enable it to emphasize the safety and quality of its EV chargers to customers.
In particular, LG Electronics plans to complete the UL certification of its 175kW fast charger by early 2024. This will further enhance the competitiveness of its EV charger products in the US market.
LG Electronics has been producing EV charger products in the domestic market since May 2023. It will start its overseas market expansion in 2024, starting with the US.
LG Electronics plans to seek new opportunities in the global EV charging market, which is expected to grow to $186 billion by 2030. The company will focus on its strengths, such as:
- Excellent manufacturing and quality
- After-sales service (A/S)
- Supply chain and solution capabilities
- Customer support and maintenance specialists
“The key requirements for an EV charger are reliability and convenience,” said Woo Jong-jin, head of the BS Research Institute at LG Electronics. “The UL certification confirms that LG Electronics’ EV charger is a product that can be trusted and used.”
