Nissan brings its cutting-edge e-4ORCE all-wheel drive technology to the snowy peaks of Europe with the X-Trail Mountain Rescue Concept. This modified X-Trail is a winter warrior, ready to tackle treacherous slopes and aid injured skiers.
Forget wheels; the Mountain Rescue Concept dons snow tracks for confident grip on slippery pistes. Inside, the rear seats make way for a stretcher and a medical professional’s seat, transforming the X-Trail into a mobile medical unit.
On the outside, a bespoke roof rack carries an evacuation stretcher and snow shovels, while powerful lights and a siren ensure visibility and emergency response. Wider fenders accommodate the tracks, and a winch on the reinforced front bumper adds muscle for towing. Footboards help access the elevated X-Trail, which rides 23cm taller than its road-going sibling.
More than just a showpiece, the Mountain Rescue Concept highlights the e-4ORCE system’s lightning-fast reaction to changing grip. It adjusts power to each wheel in milli-seconds, keeping you safe and confident on any terrain, be it wet city streets, muddy country roads, or snowy mountain slopes.
Nissan’s mission goes beyond technology with the Mountain Rescue Concept. The “Ride Responsibly” campaign uses digital signs at five European ski resorts to promote slope etiquette and responsible riding. These signs, like their roadside counterparts, track rider speeds and display “Thank You” for smooth approaches or “Slow Down” for reckless speed.
“The Mountain Rescue Concept and campaign are bold ways to showcase the benefits of e-4ORCE,” says Coralie Musy, Nissan AMIEO Vice President. “By seeing this X-Trail in action, winter sports enthusiasts will understand the peace of mind it delivers. But it’s not just about technology; we’re also promoting responsible behavior on the slopes.”
Nissan, it seems, defies the ordinary not only through its engineering marvels but also through its dedication to social responsibility.
